DAY BY DAY ITINERARY Day 1 – Arrival in Quebec City Welcome to Quebec City. A transfer between the airport and your hotel has been pre-arranged. If this is your first visit to Quebec City, be warned, you will want to come back again and again. To put it in perspective, take everything that you love about Paris and Rome, plus the charm of Mackinac Island and that comes close to what Quebec City is like. Upon arrival at the Chateau Frontenac, the staff will be waiting to assist you with your check in. Overnight – Fairmont Chateau Frontenac Day 2 – Quebec City We have included a city sightseeing tour, so that you can visit the city’s major sightseeing attractions and learn the fascinating history of Quebec City. You may be surprised to discover that the Plains of Abraham, while rich in historic significance, may be just the place for a picnic lunch or bike ride. This vast area now set aside as a park, is a treasure. Visit the Latin Quarter, the Ramparts, the National Assembly, Basilica, City Hall, Place Royal and the Citadelle. Overnight – Fairmont Chateau Frontenac Day 3 – Quebec City It seems that everything you want to do or see is within easy walking distance. The charm of the streets and buildings in the Petit Champlain is reason enough to visit, but the shops offer items that are unique to Quebec. Many items are designed and made right in the shop. Overnight – Fairmont Chateau Frontenac Day 4 – Quebec City to Charlevoix The car rental office will assist with your car pickup arrangements. Travel into the countryside along the historic Avenue Royale, the oldest route in La Nouvelle-France, visit the beautiful Montmorency Falls and stop at the famous basilica in Sainte Anne de Beaupre. Continue along the St. Lawrence River to Charlevoix. Here you will find the beautiful Manoir Richelieu; where you can golf, hike, swim or try your luck at the Casino. Use your days to relax and enjoy all the Manoir has to offer. Overnight – Fairmont Manoir Richelieu Day 5 – Charlevoix This afternoon a 3 hour whale watching tour has been pre-arranged. Just about 45 minutes from the hotel, you will board AML Cruises for the “Whales & Fjord” tour; where you will see abundant marine life at the best whale watching site in the world. Their experienced guides will show you how to recognize the whales found in the St. Lawrence River, while their wide-angle and underwater cameras reveal the rich environment below the surface. The tour will continue on to explore the rugged beauty of the Saguenay Fjord. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the Charlevoix area before heading back to the Fairmont Manoir Richelieu. Day 6 – Charlevoix to Quebec City We hope you have enjoyed this wonderful visit to Quebec and that you will join us on another tour very soon (**the direct flight from Chicago is an early morning departure, so an extra night in Quebec City is an option.) |
