Day 1- Arrive Calgary Your tour includes a transfer voucher from the Calgary Airport to your hotel. While in Calgary, consider a visit to the Calgary Zoo, Botanical Garden and Prehistoric Park, or experience turn of the century pioneer life at Heritage Park or at Ft. Calgary, Calgary’s birthplace. No one should leave Calgary without trying the “two step” at a cowboy night- spot. Overnight – Fairmont Palliser Day 2 - Rocky Mountaineer, Calgary to Kamloops (Breakfast and Lunch ) As you leave Calgary, you will travel through the foot- hills of the Canadian Rockies for a stop in Banff to take on passengers. Your journey takes you over the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels and Kicking Horse Pass. You will travel through Rogers Pass with tunnels, snow –sheds and glistening glaciers. Continue along Shuswap Lake, the South Thompson River and the ranchlands leading to Kamloops. When you arrive in Kamloops, the Rocky Mountaineer staff will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Overnight - Kamloops Day 3 - Kamloops to Jasper ( Breakfast and Lunch) Today promises another day of spectacular mountain sightseeing. As you travel from Kamloops to Jasper, you follow the Thompson River to the peaks of the Monashee Mountains. See Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Breakfast and lunch are served on the train. When you arrive at the station, collect your car and make your way to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Stroll the grounds, or refresh yourself in the pool; enjoy the wonderful facilities that this resort has to offer. Overnight – Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Day 4 - Jasper at Leisure Consider a visit to Mt. Edith Cavell or to secluded Maligne Lake, the second largest glacial lake in the world. The Jasper Tramway is the longest aerial tramway in Canada. Once you complete the trip up Whistler Mountain you'll enjoy breathtaking views in the comfort of a mountaintop restaurant. Overnight – Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Day 5 - Jasper to Lake Louise Your reluctance to leave Jasper will pass, as you travel south through some of the most beautiful vistas found anyplace on the globe. A stop at the awesome Athabasca Glacier for a Ice Explorer ride on this prehistoric river of endless ice is highly recommended. Your destination is the beautiful Chateau Lake Louise. Overnight –Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Day 6 - Lake Louise at leisure The beauty of the Chateau and grounds will entice you to stay at the hotel. But also consider the Lake Louise ski area for a ride on their chair lifts that take you to lofty heights for spectacular views. Visit the Valley of Ten peaks to view lovely Moraine Lake. Overnight – Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Day 7 - Lake Louise to Banff This morning you’re off to Banff and the Banff Springs Hotel. Filled with flowers, Banff is a picture postcard of the Canadian Rockies. The area is rich in the history of the Springs and the story of how Banff has developed from a railroad stop to one of the best-known resorts in the world. Be sure you see Bow Falls, the Cave and Basin, Tunnel Mountain and maybe a gondola ride up the side of Sulphur Mountain.
