Day 1 - Arrival/Calgary to Banff 

Welcome to Calgary and the Canadian Rockies.  Your destination is Banff and the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.  Filled with flowers, Banff is a picture postcard of the Canadian Rockies.  The area is rich in the history of the Springs and the story of how Banff has developed from a railroad stop to one of the best-known resorts in the world.

Day 2 - Banff Area Sightseeing

The breathtaking aura of the Rockies is yours to revel in today as you explore the village of Banff.   Highlights of your day include Bow Falls, Hoodoos, Surprise Corner, the Cave and Basin where Banff’s history began and a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain.  This afternoon is at leisure to explore Banff’s many boutiques and shops.

Day 3 – Banff to Lake Louise

Once again, your transfer from Banff to Lake Louise will show you the wonders of this beautiful area.  Yet no view is quite so stunning as the turquoise waters of Lake Louise.  The long summer days allows time to enjoy the scenery of Lake Louise and the beauty of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Day 4 - Lake Louise to Jasper

Your trip from Lake Louise to Jasper takes you travel along the Icefields Parkway, named one of the most scenic highways in North America.  Your day includes a visit to the Columbia Icefields and a ride onto the glacier aboard a specially constructed Ice Explorer.

Day 5 & 6 - Jasper to Toronto on VIA Rail

Your morning is at leisure.   Your train departs early this afternoon and arrangements have been made with the hotel for your transfer to the rail station.  The rail station is in the heart of downtown Jasper.  You can do some shopping or pick up snacks for the train.  Once onboard, the VIA Rail staff will be on hand to assist with your every need. Your bedroom is VIA Rail’s “top of the line” accommodation.  Your sitting room by day converts to upper and lower berths at night.  Once aboard the train, the staff will see you settled into your room.  As a Silver and Blue Class passenger, your fare includes all meals, use of any of the lounges and access to the skyline car for spectacular viewing.

Day 7 - Arrive Toronto 

Yet another day of rail travel is yours to enjoy.  You are scheduled to arrive into Toronto this evening.  Overnight arrangements have been confirmed at the Fairmont Royal York.

Day 8 – Toronto/Home

Toronto is a beautiful city with a lovely waterfront, wonderful shops and interesting sightseeing attractions.  Transfers from your hotel to the airport have been arranged.  We hope you have enjoyed this visit to Canada and look forward to seeing you on another Cartan Tour very soon!
