Day 1 - Calgary/Lake Louise 

Lake Louise is the perfect beginning to this trip filled with scenic wonders.  Arrangements have been made for your transfer from Calgary to Lake Louise. As you leave Calgary, you travel through the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.  Soon you will find yourself surrounded by sweeping vistas and towering mountain peaks.  The arrival at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is quite dramatic; there in the wilderness is a magnificent hotel and the most beautiful lake in the world.

Day 2 - Lake Louise to Banff 

Your morning is at leisure to relax and enjoy the beauty of Lake Louise.  This afternoon, your Mountain Lakes and waterfalls tour takes you across the Great Divide into YoHo National Park.  Here you will visit Takakkaw Falls, Emerald Lake and the Natural Rock Bridge.  Following your tour, you will transfer to Banff and the exciting Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.    (Your Mountain Lakes and Waterfall Tour is subject to seasonal operations.  This tour is not offered in May and is not included in the tour price.)

Day 3 -  Banff at Leisure

The breathtaking aura of the Rockies is yours to revel in today as you explore the village of Banff.   Highlights of your day include Bow Falls, Hoodoos, Surprise Corner, the Cave and Basin where Banff’s history began and a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain.  This afternoon is at leisure to explore Banff’s many boutiques and shops.

Day 4 -  Rocky Mountaineer Rail Trip  Banff to Kamloops (Breakfast and Lunch)

Traveling by rail gives you a unique prospective of the mountain’s spectacular scenery.  The train’s large viewing windows offer panoramic views and present excellent photo opportunities.  The Staff are experts on the passing scenery, and enjoy sharing it with their passengers.  Breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverage service is provided at your seat.  In Kamloops, you will be met by the Rocky Mountaineer staff and taken to your hotel.

Day 5... Kamloops to Jasper  (Breakfast and Lunch)

Your rocky mountain adventure continues with a full day of mountain scenery on the journey from Kamloops to Jasper.   When you arrive, you will be met and taken to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. The Lodge is a very special place, with beautiful grounds and a dazzling emerald lake; the perfect choice for those who like an unhurried pace and fine accommodations.

Day 6 - Jasper 

Today your “Discover Jasper” tour takes you to thundering waterfalls, lakes and Maligne Canyon. The balance of the day is at leisure to enjoy the beauty of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

Day 7 - Depart for Toronto (Dinner)

Your morning is at leisure.  VIA Rail departs Jasper early this afternoon, so we will arrange to get you to the station with time to visit the shops.  You can take care of any last moment shopping and pick up some snacks for the train.  Be sure to keep your camera handy, as the Jasper Rail station will make you feel as if you have taken a step back in time. Your bedroom is VIA Rail’s “top of the line” accommodation.  Your sitting room by day converts to upper and lower berths at night.  Once aboard the train, the staff will see you settled into your room.  As a Silver and Blue class passenger, your fare includes all meals, use of the lounges and access to the domed skyline cars.

Day 8 -  VIA Rail Enroute to Toronto (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Rail travel remains so popular, because of the fine service and care offered by the VIA Rail Staff.  Breakfast and Lunch is open seating, the VIA Rail Staff will confirm dining times for dinner.  One of the great pleasures of traveling by train is meeting people from all over the world.

Day 9 - Arrive Toronto (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Yet another day of rail travel is yours to enjoy.  You are scheduled to arrive into Toronto this evening.  Overnight arrangements have been confirmed at the Fairmont Royal York.

Day 10 – Toronto/Home

Toronto is a beautiful city with a lovely waterfront, wonderful shops and interesting sightseeing attractions.  A transfer to Toronto airport has been arranged. We hope you have enjoyed this visit to Canada and look forward to seeing you on another Cartan Tour very soon!
