Fairmont Queen Elizabeth

Day 1- Arrive Quebec City 

Welcome to Quebec City and the beautiful Fairmont Chateau Frontenac.  From the moment you arrive, you will see that life around the Frontenac is a cornucopia of this vibrant city. You may shop, explore and dine at your leisure.
Overnight – Fairmont Chateau Frontenac

 

Day 2 – Quebec City

This morning, discover Quebec City's historic past with visits to the Plaines of Abraham, the Grand-Allee, the Parliament building, the old Military Drill Hall, The Place d’Armes, the Notre Dame de Quebec Basilica and Cathedral, City Hall, the fortifications, St. John Street and Place Royal.  This afternoon your tour continues with visits to Montmorency Falls, the Island of Orleans, the Beaupre coast and the Sainte Anne basilica.

Day 3 – Quebec City to Montreal

You have time this morning to visit the gardens or do some last moment shopping.  Quebec City has wonderful shops, many with one of a kind items made right at the store.  We will reserve a midday train to Montreal with a wonderful lunch as you enjoy the pleasures of VIA 1 First Class Service.  When you arrive, The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth is located just above the rail station.

Day 4 – Montreal

The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth puts you within easy reach of every possible service.  Montreal’s underground shopping is right under the hotel. But before the shops entice you, we have a wonderful tour of Montreal that includes a visit to the Botanical Garden.  Following your tour you are at leisure to explore Montreal.

Day 5 – Montreal to Toronto

Your morning is at leisure.  Once again as a VIA Rail VIA 1 first class passenger you will enjoy lunch and beverage services aboard the train.  The trip is about 5 hours, but you will be surprised at how quickly the time passes in comfortable seats and attentive service.  The Fairmont Royal York is just across from the rail station, so you will be at the hotel in a wink of an eye.

Day 6 – Niagara Falls Excursion with Lunch

The beauty of the falls is breathtaking and a ride on the Maid of the Mist is fun.  Lunch is included.  Our garden lovers will be delighted with the array of flowering attractions around the falls.  Your tour allows time for you to do some exploring on your own.

Day 7 – 10 Aboard VIA Rail en route to Vancouver

Train buffs, this is what you have been waiting for.  Your train to Vancouver departs this morning.  VIA Rail has a special first class check in area for their Silver and Blue Class passengers.  Your bedroom, VIA’s top of the line sleeping quarters is a comfortable two-person living area by day and converts to upper and lower berths at night.  Each bedroom is equipped with a wash stand and private facilities.  Each sleeping car has one shower. As you travel from Toronto to Vancouver, you will travel through five of Canada's Provinces. As you travel north in Ontario you come to realize what a lifeline the train is for people who live where roads are few but lakes, rivers and waterways abound. In Manitoba, you enter a land of forest and lakes. This wealth of forest and water made Winnipeg, located at the junction of the Red, Assiniboine and Seine Rivers the capital of Canada's fur trade. Saskatchewan shows you the unique beauty of these prairie lands and communities rich in heritage. Alberta's prairie lands bring you to Edmonton, home to the famous West Edmonton Mall. Midway between Edmonton and Jasper, you have your first view of the Rockies and the promise of what is yet to come. Continue through the Rockies to Vancouver.

Day 10 – Arrive Vancouver

Your train will arrive into Vancouver in the morning.  Arrangements have been made for a Vancouver sightseeing tour.
Overnight – Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

 

Day 11 – Depart for home or extend your stay

If time allows, consider spending an extra day and include a visit to Victoria and their beautiful Butchart Gardens.  If you wish to extend your stay, please let us know when making your initial reservation.
