Day 1 - Arrive in Vancouver Welcome to Vancouver. Your Hotel choice puts you in the heart of the city, close to shops, museums and restaurants. Overnight – Vancouver Day 2 - VIA Rail Vancouver to Jasper You have most of the day at leisure to explore and enjoy Vancouver. Your train departs at 5:30. The doorman will assist you with getting a taxi to the rail station. Nothing shows you Canada like a trip on the train. Your bedroom is VIA Rail’s “top of the line” accommodation. Your sitting room by day converts to upper and lower berths at night. Once aboard the train, the staff will see you settled into your room. As a Silver and Blue Service passenger, your fare includes all meals, use of any of the lounges and access to the skyline car for spectacular viewing. Overnight - Spent aboard VIA Rail Day 3 - Enroute to Jasper You will wake this morning to the beauty of the Canadian Rockies, as you continue your rail journey to Jasper. Morning coffee and a full Canadian breakfast are offered prior to your arrival in Jasper. We have arranged for you to be met at the station and taken to your hotel. This afternoon, consider a visit to Mt. Edith Cavil, or the Jasper Tramway, the longest aerial tramway in Canada. At the top of Whistlers Mountain, you can dine at their mountaintop restaurant. Overnight – Jasper Day 4 - Jasper to Lake Louise Your transfer to Lake Louise leaves at 12:50PM. The drive to Lake Louise is beautiful. Your arrival at the Chateau gives you time to view the lake and enjoy the grounds before dinner. The beauty of Lake Louise and the Chateau is unique. Only when you see the view from the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise can you understand why people say, “you must see it to believe it.” Overnight - Lake Louise Day 5 - Lake Louise to Banff After the beauty of Lake Louise, you will be surprised to find that Banff offers a different perspective. This active alpine village is just about the best place to be in summer. Towering mountains and the sweeping Bow Valley offer stunning contracts. Elk roam about, totally unconcerned with the flow of visitors passing them by. While visiting Banff’s fun places, don’t miss a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain or a dip in the sulfur pool. Overnight - Banff Day 6 - Banff You are never at a loss for things to do in Banff. The village is filled with delightful shops and boutiques. Be sure to spend some time at the Fairmont Banff Springs as it is a village in and of itself. If you enjoy outdoor activities, you can golf, bike or hike. Overnight - Banff Day 7 – Banff to Jasper If during your travels to Banff you saw places and longed to stop, your full day sightseeing excursion will take you to many of them. As you travel to Jasper along the Icefield’s parkway, you will pass some of the most beautiful vistas found anyplace on the globe. A stop at the awesome Athabasca Glacier for a Ice Explorer ride on this prehistoric river of endless ice is included in your day. Emerald Lakes, towering waterfalls and mountain peaks make this a day to remember. Your full day sightseeing excursion will bring you into Jasper late this afternoon where overnight arrangements have been confirmed. Overnight – Jasper Day 8 & 9 - VIA Rail Jasper to Toronto Your morning is at leisure. Your train departs early this afternoon and arrangements have been made with the hotel for your transfer to the rail station. Once aboard the train, the staff will see you settled into your bedroom. As you continue your rail journey from Vancouver to Toronto, you will have travel through five of Canada's Provinces. The mountain scenery between Vancouver and Jasper is hard to beat, but as you travel through the prairie lands of Alberta and Saskatchewan, you come to realize that they have a beauty that is all their own. In Manitoba, you enter a land of forest and lakes. This wealth of forest and water made Winnipeg, located at the junction of the Red, Assiniboine and Seine Rivers the capital of Canada's fur trade. You also see what a lifeline the train is for people who live where roads are few but lakes, rivers and waterways abound. OverNights - Spent aboard VIA Rail Day 10 - Arrive Toronto Yet another day of rail travel is yours to enjoy. You are scheduled to arrive into Toronto this evening. Overnight arrangements have been confirmed at the Fairmont Royal York, located just across the street from the rail station. Overnight – Toronto Day 11 – Toronto/Home Toronto is a beautiful city with a lovely waterfront, wonderful shops and interesting sightseeing attractions, if time allows, explore this lovely city.
