Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive Montreal

Welcome to Montreal. Your package includes a transfer to the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth.

Overnight - Fairmont Queen Elizabeth

 

Day 2 – Montreal to Halifax (dinner)

Your city sightseeing tour gives you an excellent overview of the city. The morning tour still allows time for you to explore on your own before boarding your train this evening to Halifax. Once on board, the staff will see you comfortably settled into your bedroom. Dinner this evening and a continental breakfast will be served in the dining car.

Overnight – VIA Rail Sleeper Car

 

Day 3 – Enroute to Halifax (breakfast, lunch)

The train is a wonderful place to meet new people. The VIA Rail staff have a wealth of knowledge about passing scenery and enjoy sharing it with their passengers. You arrive in Halifax late afternoon. Your hotel is a short taxi ride from the rail station. Halifax is a lovely city, reflecting the care that has gone into restoring this historic harbor. Day 4 – Halifax

This morning you will meet your tour guide for a deluxe historic tour of the city. The afternoon is free to further explore this delightful seaside city! This evening meet your fellow travelers and tour director at a welcome reception.

Day 5 – Halifax to Digby (breakfast, dinner)

Your day will start with a visit to the famous fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. Included in the day will be the Grand Pre Historic Site and Champlain’s Habitation. In Digby you will overnight at the Pines Resort overlooking the Bay of Fundy – home of the world’s highest tides.  Overnight – The Pines Resort

 

Day 6 – Digby to Moncton (breakfast, lunch)

Your journey takes you through the lush Annapolis Valley and on to Grand Pre where fact and fiction blend to reveal the romance of the Land of Evangeline. As your day continues, you will cross into New Brunswick, spending the night in the bilingual city of Moncton.  Overnight - Moncton

 

Day 7 – Moncton to Charlottetown (breakfast, dinner)

Your tour continues to Hopewell Rocks where you can walk on the ocean floor at low tide. After lunch we cross to Prince Edward Island on Confederation Bridge, the world’s largest multi-span bridge. This evening enjoy a delicious lobster supper. Overnight – Rodd Charlottetown Hotel

 

Day 8 – Prince Edward Island (breakfast, lunch)

Your afternoon tour begins with a visit to Charlottetown, Canada’s birthplace, then visiting the red sandstone cliffs, white beaches, sand dunes the green fields of Prince Edward Island National Park and of course a visit to the home of “Anne of Green Gables”. This evening enjoy the musical “Anne” at the Charlottetown festival.  Overnight – Rodd Charlottetown Hotel

 

Day 9 – Charlottetown to Baddeck (breakfast, dinner)

Today we will take a ferry to Nova Scotia and the proceed to Cape Breton Island, the Scotland of North America.  Weather permitting; a short Eagle Watching Boat tour is included in your day

Overnight – Inverary Inn

 

Day 10 – Cabot Trail (breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner)

You are off to experience one of the prettiest drives in North America, the Cabot Trail. Cape Breton Highlands National Park is next, as you wind along the highway, where the mountains meet the sea. In Pleasant Bay, enjoy a whale watching tour (weather permitting). Tonight a farewell dinner has been planned.

Day 11 – Baddeck to Halifax (breakfast)

The Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site awaits you. This reconstruction recreates one-fifth of the town of 1744. Roam the streets and talk with some of the costumed guides who remain in character. The day continues along the shores of Bras d’Or to the mainland.

Overnight – Citadel Halifax Hotel

 

Day 12 – Halifax Home

A departure transfer from your hotel to the airport has been included.  We hope that you have enjoyed your trip to the Maritimes!
