Hall of Fame broadcaster and Los Angeles Dodgers announcer Vin Scully has been officially named the Grand Marshal for the 2014 Tournament of Roses Parade.
Celebrating its 125th Anniversary on January 1st, the Tournament of Roses Parade is a beautiful New Years Day tradition on the streets of Pasadena.
At a press conference outside Tournament House this morning, Mr. Scully talked about listening to college football on the radio as a young boy and how he participated in the Rose Parade during the early years with the Dodgers. He reminisced about the experience of hearing the crowd roar on Colorado Avenue (the main parade route), and how thrilled he is to be able to experience that again this year as the Grand Marshal.
Ms. Scully will be joined by his wife, Sandra, during the length of the parade, and will also be tossing the coin at the start of the Rose Bowl Game – celebrating its 100th Anniversary – later that day.
